Thursday, Oct. 19th – 37th Annual Terry Fox Run – help us raise $150.00 per grade to reach our Canada 150th Celebration Goal!
Thursday, Oct. 26th – Jean Miso, Canadian author, composer and performer, will be bringing her stories and music to our students from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Her song “We’ll Never Forget/Noublions jamais” is the official theme song for the Juno Beach Centre in Normandy, France.
Award-winning Canadian author Shane Peacock will be speaking to our students in Grades 4 to 8 on Monday, October 17th. Shane was just nominated for the Blue Spruce 2017 Award for his picture book, The Artist and Me, a story of Vincent van Gogh and his personal struggles.
At night, students and parents will be travelling to Alliston Union to hear Shane and the other Seven the Series authors speak to students from across our county. For more information, please contact our school.
Our surprise Seven the Sequel writer was Ted Staunton! We congratulate Ted on having just won the TD Mystery Novel award for Why I’m Not. The students and staff enjoyed learning how Ted had his first book Puddleman published when he was very young.
Later that evening, a bus load of students, teachers and staff joined Ted and 4 of the other amazing authors for a night of laughter and lots of interesting stories. Sigmund Brouwer, one of our favourite writers, has asked students in Grade 8 to help edit his new book “Unleashed” – what an opportunity for our students!
The winner of Blue Spruce 2013 and one of our favourite Blue Spruce stories is Kate & Pippin…An Unlikely Love Story. Author, illustrator and musician, Martin Springett will be visiting our school on Wednesday, January 22nd. Parents and guardians are welcome to join us!

Grade 7 and 8’s: our school will be hosting award-winning Canadian author, Richard Scrimger, author of Ink Me, from the fabulous Seven the Series! He’ll be arriving on Monday, November 4th. That evening, you can meet Richard and the other 6 authors at Willow Landing E.S. from 7 to 8:30. Stay tuned for more details and info re: bussing.
Local writer and illustrator Gwen Petreman is coming to our school during Education Week on Thursday, May 3rd. She will be meeting with students from Grade 1 to 3 to learn about the writing process.
