Ted Staunton entertaining our students!

Our surprise Seven the Sequel writer was Ted Staunton! We congratulate Ted on having just won the TD Mystery Novel award for Why I’m Not.  The students and staff enjoyed learning how Ted had his first book Puddleman published when he was very young.

Later that evening, a bus load of students, teachers and staff joined Ted and 4 of the other amazing authors for a night of laughter and lots of interesting stories.   Sigmund Brouwer, one of our favourite writers, has asked students in Grade 8 to help edit his new book “Unleashed” – what an opportunity for our students!

Welcome back to a new school year!

August31

I’m hoping that everyone had a safe and fun summer filled with lots of reading!  I read alot of great books for students and adults. My favourite adult book this summer was Dan Brown’s Inferno as it was partly set in Florence, one of my favourite places in Italy. I read lots of Young Adult books like The Fault in our Stars (definitely a Mature Content YA book, soon to be made into a movie), Between Shades of Gray (set in 1941 during the Soviet occupation of Lithuania), Devil’s Pass (by one of favourite Canadian writers, Sigmund Brouwer),  Enemy Territory (by another fav Can. writer, Sharon McKay), but my most favourite was Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  A must read for students and teachers. It will make you laugh, and cry and remember to stick up for others!
