Scholastic “Buy 1, Get 1 FREE” Book Fair is coming!

June7

Check out our Book Fair  on Wednesday, June 12, Thursday, June 13th, and Friday, June 14th for the amazing Scholastic “Buy 1, Get 1 FREE” Book Fair. Everything is buy one, get one free.  Look out for “Super Clifford”  and other superheroes at our fair, in honour of the 10th Anniversary of the Family Day Picnic (formerly known as the Father’s Day Picnic) on Friday, June 14th. Think up your own superhero (or go to Superhero Name Generator), borrow a cape from an old costume, cut out a mask from felt, use paper to draw your own insignia on the front of a t-shirt!  Lots of fun, inexpensive things to do to become your own Superhero for the day.

Keep your eye out for  “Super Story Diva” and “Wonder Woman of Words”!

A Great Book Fair and Snuggle Up & Read Day!

Thank you to all of our students, parents and staff who visited our Scholastic “Get a Charge Out of Reading” Book Fair.  It was a huge success thanks to you and we received many new books and funds to support our upcoming literacy events. A GREAT BIG thanks to Mrs. Duck for running the Book Fair for three solid days!  We couldn’t do it without you. Also many thanks to Mrs. McDonald, Mrs. Westaway, Olivia, Mara and of course, the two STAR book fair students – Miranda and Maegan who organize the signs, announcements, set up and took care of our guest, Geronimo Stilton.  Gavin B. and Mrs. H. Wallace were our big winners of the Book Event Draw – congratulations.

Next book fair – the  “Buy 1, Get 1 for Free” Book Fair.  Open the week of our famous Father’s Day Picnic in mid June.  Hope to see you there as you pick out your books for summer reading!

Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and family members who joined us for Snuggle Up and Read 2013.  We loved the reading strategy performances by Mrs. Parsons’ amazing Grade 3 Class and the poem and Because of Winn Dixie dramatization by Mr. Hussein’s outstanding Grade 4 Class.  Thank you to Gavin B. our AV specialist and to Mr. Hussein, Mr. Duncan and Mr. Cheesman for all of their help with set up.  See you next year!
