Wednesday, Oct. 11th is the UN International Day of the Girl

Monday, Oct. 16th – Award winning Canadian author Sigmund Brouwer is bringing his Rock and Roll Literacy presentation to our school. FDK to Grade 8.  Check out his website and youtube clips here:

Thursday, Oct. 19th – 37th Annual Terry Fox Run – help us raise $150.00 per grade to reach our Canada 150th Celebration Goal!

Thursday, Oct. 26th –  Jean Miso, Canadian author, composer and performer, will be bringing her stories and music to our students from Kindergarten to Grade 8.  Her song “We’ll Never Forget/Noublions jamais” is the official theme song for the Juno Beach Centre in Normandy, France.

Welcome Back !

Welcome back to  all of our students, staff and family members!  Our school continues to grow so right now we have an awesome class in our Library Commons, but we will endeavour to get our books out and into the hands of our students as soon as we can, along with all of the great technology we have!

Upcoming events:  Robotics Club, Green Screen Team,Terry Fox 37th Anniversary School Run,  October Author Visit, November Scholastic Book Fair and December Holiday Post Office.

Soon all students will be starting STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics) Challenges,  Coding and Robotics with Dash and  Lego EV3 Robots, along with literacy and digital citizenship lessons!

Forest of Reading 2017 has begun!

Blue Spruce for Grades 1 to 3 has started with Shane Peacock’s The Artist and Me.

Red Maple for Grades 7 and 8 students who have joined the Red Maple Team started just before Christmas and the students are now meeting with Staff Passport Advisors to discuss their books.  Silver Birch readers will be beginning their novels soon in Ms. Cubitt’s Grade 5/6 class.  To see the complete list of nominated books and find out more about the Forest of Reading go to:

Shane Peacock – Monday, Oct.17th

Award-winning Canadian author Shane Peacock will be speaking to our students in Grades 4 to 8 on Monday, October 17th. Shane was just nominated for the Blue Spruce 2017 Award for his picture book, The Artist and Me, a story of Vincent van Gogh and his personal struggles.

At night, students and parents will be travelling to Alliston Union to hear Shane and the other Seven the Series authors speak to students from across our county. For more information, please contact our school.

The 36th Annual Terry Fox Run

This year, we welcome Mrs. Pragnell as our .6 Teacher-Librarian!  She’s looking forward to doing lots of great literacy events, Makerspace, Robotics, Coding and more in our Learning Commons, formerly known as the Library/Information Centre.

Welcome back!

Here’s to a great 2016/2017 school year at Angus Morrison Elementary School!  I’m very happy to be back, two days a week, and look forward to introducing you all to our .6 Teacher-Librarian. Ms. Petras has just accepted a 1.0 Teacher-Librarian position at Mountain View E.S. and we wish her all the very best!
